Lindström values sustainability and strategic partnership – ”Together, we can accomplish more”

Lindström and Transval’s long cooperation is founded on shared goals and development. Results can be seen in the high quality of the warehouse.

One of Europe’s leading textile service companies Lindström has trusted its Finnish central warehouse in Transval’s care. It serves the international company in many markets, including Finland, Sweden, the Baltics, and partly Central Europe.

Tight cooperation has created good results

Vice President of Procurement & Supply Chain Jarmo Vahtervuo says that Lindström is happy with its warehouse operations. Vahtervuo has also developed the cooperation from the opposite perspective, while working for Itella back in the day.

“We did a competitive tender for the central warehouse this fall, and Transval was once again the best option. The high quality of warehouse operations was the main reason why we wanted to keep working together,” Jarmo Vahtervuo says.

The central warehouse’s reliability of delivery is currently an impressive 99.98%. Receiving timeliness, picking accuracy, and delivery timeliness are also close to reaching full hundreds.

Shared development work is guided by lean thinking. We have cut unnecessary work and focused on what brings added value to Lindström’s customers. Long-term work has been done to change employee mindsets and establish the lean way of thinking. Vahtervuo believes that the resulted efficiency has been positive for both Lindström and Transval.

Sustainability is a common goal

When it comes to sustainability, Lindström and Transval share ambitious goals.

For Lindström, sustainability is largely circular economy, as the company focuses on the quality, lifespan, and recycling of materials. The aim is to decrease emissions created throughout the value chain on a yearly basis. Vahtervuo recognizes the importance of partners and suppliers in achieving their goals.

“We have demanding goals in sustainability, and the topic is also approached with gravity in Transval and Posti. Together, we can accomplish more,” Vahtervuo says.

A concrete example of shared sustainability work comes from the past fall. The heating system of the warehouse was updated, and warehouse emissions were pushed down to zero. Now the warehouse is heated by an air-water heat pump.

Toward future growth

Lindström is constantly growing and hopes that partners can offer flexibility and the ability to adjust to growth. Strategic partnership and sustainability work are important themes. Vahtervuo also values the fact that we can bring industry insights to our shared discussions.

”Our strategic partnership is already in great shape. Cooperation works well, and that is one reason why we’ve been with Transval for so long. The world changes, and we need to keep actively finding new solutions together,” he says.
