Posti Group Oyj has today, 25 January 2019, completed the acquisition of the in-house logistics company Suomen Transval Group Oy. The transaction was announced in September 2018. Posti will acquire the entire share capital of Suomen Transval Group from MB Fund and other shareholders of the company. Transval's turnover in 2017 was approximately EUR 148 million. It employs 3 500 logistics professionals.

- The transaction is a step in our growth strategy for logistics services. The transaction will make Posti a major player in logistics outsourcing solutions in Finland. Together with Transval, we offer the most extensive and comprehensive logistics outsourcing solutions on the market, from transportation to warehousing and in-house logistics at customers' premises. We have had an extensive customer relationship with Transval for many years and have come to appreciate the values and successful approach of Transval's staff and management in terms of customer focus, agility and speed. The transaction will benefit both companies' customers," says Sari Helander, Business Director of Posti's Logistics Solutions.

Risto Vilo, CEO of Transval, is pleased that the company will grow together with Posti.

- We see huge potential in this deal with Posti. Transval's current service portfolio will be complemented by Posti's logistics services, such as warehousing and value-added services, transport services and, depending on the customer's needs, e.g. e-commerce and parcel services. This acquisition will also benefit our employees, who are the most important success factor for our company. On 17 January 2019, the Consumer and Competition Authority (CCA) approved the acquisition subject to certain restrictions relating to Transval's 3PL customers.

In Finland, the market for outsourced logistics is worth more than EUR 6 billion

In Finland, the market for outsourced logistics is estimated to be well over €6 billion, and outsourcing is estimated to be growing at a rate of up to 20% per year. In the field of in-house logistics, the growing area is in-house logistics for industrial production, while in the retail sector it is shelving of goods and product refurbishment.

Posti's growth expectations in the logistics outsourcing market will be driven by the restructuring of the retail sector and the increasing demand for services, which will require logistics to make new arrangements to meet customers' needs. With the completion of the transaction, the combined logistics services of Posti and Transval will offer the most comprehensive logistics outsourcing solutions in Finland for several industries to increase customer competitiveness.

The logistics outsourcing services cover warehousing and terminal services, transport solutions, in-house logistics and flexible use of professional staff. In-house logistics refers to the handling of material flows on the customer's premises by the service provider's staff. Typical services include the reception, in-house transfer, collection and dispatch of goods in warehouses, terminals and industrial plants.

With the transaction, Transval will continue to operate as an independent company and will be part of the Posti Group. The transaction will have no impact on staffing levels or on existing customer services.
